Parish Council Reports in 2010-11

Parish Council Notices May 2011

Bainton and Ashton Parish Council Meeting April 2011
All councillors were present at the Parish Council meeting along with Cllr David Over and one member of the public.     Several items pertaining to finance were discussed and the new Asset Register approved.   A more competitive quote for insurance was approved.    Plans from Peterborough City Council Planning department will only be available on line in future and the best method of displaying these was discussed along with the possibility of archiving the Parish Council documents on computer.    The Chairman requested that the £500 from the environment grant be spent on the village green and verges in Ashton in an attempt to repair them after the winter and heavy traffic.    Playground maintenance was discussed and as the equipment belongs to the Peterborough City Council it was agreed to seek advice from them on suitable substances which could be used to prevent weeds.
The Annual Parish meeting is on Tuesday 3 May and arrangements for this were discussed.   All residents to receive notice of this and representatives from the various organisations in the village will be invited to attend.
The Minutes of the meeting will be found on the Reading Room website.

Ufford Parish Council
The Parish Council met on Tuesday 12th April Reports were received concerning the Church meeting on 29th March and the Neighbourhood Council meeting on 7th April.
Discussion took place regarding the provision of a broadband connection in the Village Hall. This will be pursued with the Village Hall committee who are in favour of this amenity.
The speed signs have not been installed yet and this matter is being investigated by the Clerk. An interesting first outing of the Speedwatch equipment took place recently with 8 vehicles being caught doing 34mph or more on Main Street. More volunteers would mean that this useful deterrent could be deployed several times during Ufford’s week on the rota.
The possibility of a Village Fete is being discussed with several villagers interested in helping. Please contact Ian Snaith or Keith Lievesley with ideas or offers of help.
The next meeting is the Annual Village Meeting on Tuesday 10th May at 7pm followed by the Parish Council Meeting. Wine and nibbles will be on offer, so come along and meet the Councillors and make your views heard.
