The meeting held on Monday 8 August 2011 in the Wilfrid Wood Hall was attended by Mrs J Woollard (Chairman), Mr E Barker, Mrs S Berrill, Mr H Brassey, Dr I Burrows, Mrs D Dolby, Mr D Roxburgh, Mrs R McCallum (Parish Clerk) and PC N McCallum.
Peterborough City Council (PCC) will be asked to lower the kerbs alongside the village information board to give disabled access. PCC have agreed to paint yellow warning lines on all the roads leading into both Barnack and Pilsgate.
A letter was sent to Cambridgeshire Constabulary objecting to the selling of the police house and the reorganisation of police hours resulting in PC MCallum now having to spend a third of his time working within the City of Peterborough. The Fix-it-Van is continuing in the villages, and before each visit a list of tasks will be e-mailed to ensure the service is being used appropriately.
The 20mph signs are still missing outside the school on the B1443, and have been reported to PCC. The Jubilee Committee has now been established and progress on planned festivities will be reported back to each monthly PCC meeting. The proposed rabbit farm on Uffington Road will go to the full Planning Committee at the Parish Council’s request.
Mr Robinson attended to request a donation towards the Barnack C of E School’s outdoor classroom. It was agreed to donate £987.00 for the rubber matting for the flooring.
Further training will be arranged for a new team of Speed Watch users. More volunteers are needed. If anyone would like to be trained, they need to contact PC McCallum on 07753 577479 to arrange a suitable session. A quote will be requested from PCC for the cost of two further speed activated boards. Dr Burrows reported on the recent Neighbourhood Council meeting. A request will be made for funding for two planned projects, verge gridding in Orchard Road and traffic calming in Stamford Road. The planned traffic calming in Uffington Road will be discussed when the building work has been completed.
PC McCallum reported the number of crimes in the area has risen since last quarter, and that a police support officer will cover the villages while he is working in Peterborough. As a reminder, all crimes need to be reported to show exactly the need for a police officer in the area.
Various highways and village matters were raised including a broken street light by the War Memorial, a hole in the verge outside 9 Orchard Road, holes in the gutters on Uffington Road and a series of holes in Wittering Ford Road. The overgrown hedge at the junction with the A16 and Uffington Road and the resurfacing that is required on the B1443 at the entrance to Stamford will be reported to SKDC.
The next meeting is on Monday 12 September 2011 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. All are welcome. Full copies of these minutes are displayed on the village notice boards.
