Barnack Parish Council Report Aug 11

Report for Barnack Parish Council

The meeting held on Monday 4 July 2011 in the Wilfrid Wood Hall was attended by Mrs J Woollard (Chairman), Mr E Barker, Mrs S Berrill, Mr H Brassey, Dr I Burrows, Mrs D Dolby, Mrs R McCallum (Parish Clerk), Cllr D Over, PC N McCallum, and 1 member of the public. The quote for the surface around the village information still has not yet been received. The Highways officer has quoted £162.03 for lowering the kerbs on to the pavement and is still to inform the council regarding services, if any, beneath this area. As the brambles have still not been cut on the Walcot Road a stronger request will be made. Caroline Hall has replied concerning the tree planted in the wrong position in Orchard Road and has promised to take action.

A further letter has been sent to Peter Tebb requesting for the date of commencement of work to realign the road behind the war memorial, the painting of yellow warning lines at both entrances to Pilsgate and all five entrance to Barnack, and for the wrongly placed white lines at the junction of the C40 and the B1443 to be repainted in the correct position. He will also be asked again about the 20mph signs for Bainton Road. A further letter has been sent to the Chief Constable regarding the selling of the Police House in Barnack. Dr Burrows will attend The Neighbourhood Council meeting as a full member of the council to represent Barnack Parish Council. The chairman thanked all councillors for the help at the official opening of the pavilion to make it a successful and enjoyable village evening. The Fix-It-Van is no longer operating due to the cut backs. The Peterborough Enterprise Group is covering this work with their ‘See it Fix it’ group but the parish council felt that the standard of work has dramatically fallen. Bus shelters are not being swept and litter is not being picked up. A further request will be made to have the seats maintained in Uffington Road. Cross Keys Homes have not responded to the requests to paint the seats outside the flats in Uffington Road, the dropping of kerbs in Orchard Road and the resident’s complaint concerning his neighbour’s garden. Cross Keys Homes’ informed the council that their next Village Voice meeting is being held at their office on Shrewsbury Avenue, Woodston, on Monday 5 September 2011 at 7.00pm.

A tree pack will be ordered for the Jubilee celebrations. PC McCallum reported that red diesel is being stolen from the area and asked all residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious incidents to the police. Two planning applications were presented for comment. i) A proposed extension of porch at front and alternations to utility room at rear including addition of roof lights at 7 Orchard Road, Barnack. The council had no objections. ii) A proposal for 2.2 high posts to support wires with balls strung on them across the top of six stock encloses surrounded by post and rail fencing and wire netting at rabbit farm at land to the west of Uffington Road, Barnack. The council objected most strongly to this application. There is no rabbit farm on this site at present, a free range rabbit farm at this point at the approach to a part conservation village would be inappropriate and create an eyesore in open countryside in the middle of arable farmland. Feed, stored in mobile structures and left out for the free range rabbits, would attract rats and be a health hazard for householders in the village. Foxes and other vermin attracted would present a danger for householders. Free range rabbits escaping by burrowing would be a pest eating growing crops for nearby farmland. The whole proposed planning application was considered to be totally inappropriate. The meeting closed at 9.51pm.

The next meeting of the parish council will be on Monday 8 August 2011 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. All are welcome. A full copy of these minutes is on the village notice boards.
