Bainton & Ashton Parish Council Meeting 3rd August.
There were 3 councillors present and the 2 vacancies on the council were filled by the co-option of Graham Fletcher and Richard Harris. Chairman of the Council Zena Coles introduced the new clerk, Robin Morrison who gave a short presentation on the role of the Parish clerk and the new agenda format.
A member of the public highlighted concerns about vehicles undertaking at the bus stop with the hazard of passengers standing at the stop and also the amount of traffic, making crossing the road difficult, misuse of the playground in the evening and the continued use of Highfield Road as a meeting place for men. The council discussed these matters during the meeting and the action to be taken.
The financial report was accepted and signed by the Chairman.
Various ongoing problems were discussed including the overhanging trees along the Barnack Road which make walking along the footpath extremely difficult. The council have been assured by the City Council that this matter is in hand.
The Village design statement is expected to be activated again and the Clerk was asked to collate all the documents currently held with a view to the Council updating this. Judith Morrice agreed to co-ordinate Neighbourhood Watch volunteers around the village.
A planning application for the construction of a two storey 4 bed dwelling at Brookfield, Barnack Road had been submitted and the council approved the proposal.
The meeting closed at 8.50pm. Date of next meeting Tuesday 7 September at 7.30pm. There will be a presentation to retired Clerk Tony Gowers at 7pm. All welcome.
Barnack & Pilsgate Parish Council
A donation will be made for the planning fees for the Barnack Pre-School building and £1000 towards legal costs. The plans for the building plot next to Southcroft were passed by the Planning Committee, but Building Control will still have to approve this. No objections for the planning application to fell one Cotoneaster tree at 2 Linden Close, Barnack. A meeting was arranged to discuss the planning application on the land adjacent to 1 Pudding Bag Lane, Pilsgate. Approval has been received for a single storey rear extension at 4 The Old Stackyard, Pilsgate. Agreement has been reached concerning the translocation of the lizards from the Uffington Road development site to Southey Woods.
A letter has been received to thank Barnack Parish Council for the excellent state of the cemetery. The payments, receipts, budget control and bank reconciliation were agreed by all councillors. Approval was given for the reservation of a burial plot in the cemetery for Mr and Mrs Alexander. The fund raising committee for the Sports Pavilion have now raised £28,308. The Community Leadership Group will be renamed to the Barnack Ward Group. All the bee hotels have now been distributed and donations received, 4 new oak benches have been sited and the hedgerow surveys in Barnack is complete.
